Are you feeling Kool? This week's feature is Kool Beachclub. As you can see it's superbly luxurious and unarguably gorgeous! It's located just a 5-minute walk away from the school and offers a range of very affordable services and amenities.

It has an enormous private swimming pool with VIP area, an open palapa bar that serves everything from your favorite beer to the fanciest cocktail; there are private diamond beds for two ($10 per day), and pillowed individual lounge chairs available for rent ($2 per day).

It also has a fantastic gourmet restaurant, which has live music almost every evening. What more could you want?!

So you love the beach, huh? What about relaxing on the beach? I mean really relaxing. How about having your own private beach bed?!

If you’re hungry you can enjoy some delicious food and ice cold drinks. Still not enough? How about a full body massage afterwards? And the best part is that you don't even have to move a muscle to enjoy all three because they will come to you.

And if it feels so good that you decide to lay there until the sun goes down, don't worry; you'll be just in time to have a blast in the Coco Maya nightclub, situated (you guessed it!) right on the beach.

And just think, Coco Maya is just one of the many beach clubs that we have here in Playa, and it's only about a four minute walk from IH. Here, you can study and vacation!

Todos hemos disfrutado de una buena película en el cine o en casa sentados en nuestro sillón favorito, comiendo palomitas. esto es muy común para todo el mundo, pero hacerlo en la playa no es tan común, ¿no?

Zenzi es un club de playa que tuvo la maravillosa idea de convertir la playa en un cine al aire libre donde la gente puede recostarse en los camastros y disfrutar de una muy buena película acompañada de una cerveza bien fría o un cóctel como lo hacemos nosotros con nuestros alumnos dentro del programa social.

En este lugar te recomendamos los cócteles, y bebidas como los mojitos cubanos, sex on the beach y el tequila sunrise y los siguientes platillos: el ceviche, los nachos con queso y las hamburguesas son muy buenas también.

¿En tu ciudad hay un lugar tan interesante como este?

No podemos disfrutar enteramente de unas vacaciones en la playa sin haber escuchado un poco de reggae en uno de los mejores bares de Playa del  Carmen, Fusión.

Este maravilloso bar tuvo la atinada idea de organizar un festival de reggae en la playa, con muchos grupos invitados, como por ejemplo el grupo llamado antidoping. entre otros, que nos deleitaron con sus propias canciones y también con algunos éxitos del rey del reggae: Bob Marley. Sin duda fue un gran evento que seguramente se repetirá.

¿Puedes imaginarte estar a la orilla de la playa, disfrutando de un rico mojito cubano o una margarita, escuchando reggae en vivo? Aquí en Playa del Carmen no es imaginación… ¡es realidad!

One of my favorite things to do in Playa (other than hit the beach, of course!) is to take a stroll on the Quinta Avenida.

And I'm not just talking about club hopping: the Quinta is filled with awesome bars, great restaurants, and fun shops, and visiting each one is a great way to meet local people and practice your Spanish.

En Playa del Carmen hay muchas discotecas, pero sin duda la más popular es el Blue Parrot.

Blue Parrot es un punto de referencia en Playa. Ya sea de día o de noche, los columpios junto a la barra te dan la bienvenida a un oasis playero donde palmeras, cuerpos bronceados y deliciosas bebidas se mueven al ritmo del reggae y lo más popular de los años 70, 80 y 90. Todas las noches tienen el famoso "fire show" (espectáculo de fuego).

Víctor Hugo Hernández, integrante del espectáculo de fuego, nos habla un poco sobre este evento tan interesante y divertido:

"El espectáculo de fuego es una tradición que inició en Hawai hace muchos años. En Playa del Carmen hemos practicado esta actividad desde hace más de 5 años y varias personas que han visto el espectáculo en Hawai nos han comentado que lo hacemos mejor que ellos, lo cual me llena de orgullo y valor para seguir practicando ésta que es mi profesión y mi pasatiempo."

¿Y tú, has visto el espectáculo de fuego?

Otra de las cosas que te recomendamos probar durante tu estancia en México es el pan de elote. Buenísimo, ya sea como desayuno, merienda o postre, con dulce o salado.

Un buen lugar para comerlo en Playa del Carmen: Café Andrade en la Calle 8 norte entre Avenida 15 y 20 [mapa].

Un lugar para amantes del café y del chocolate real: "Ah Cacao". En maya "Ah Cacao" quiere decir "El Rey del Cacao" y "Real Chocolate".

"Ah Cacao" es un apetecible lugar en el centro de Playa del Carmen donde sentarse a disfrutar de un delicioso café para todos los gustos; expreso, café con leche, capuchino frío o frappé y chocolate caliente, frío o picante.

Puedes comprar también cajas de chocolate para regalar, cacao criollo en polvo, cacao en grano o barras y extracto de vainilla, todo elaborado en México.

Puedes elegir entre sentarte en "Ah Cacao Café" en 5ta Avenida con Avenida Constituyentes o bien 5ta Avenida con Calle 30. Está abierto de 07:15 am a 11:45 pm.

Mi preferido… Iced mocha frappé y brownie de chocolate ¿y el tuyo? ¡Disfrútalo!

El Alux is in a truly spectacular location. Not only because it's underground, but because it is an underground cave which we here in Mexico call a cenote.

It is complete with stalactites, stalagmites and a little lagoon that is lit by a blue light that illuminates the waterfall, the sound of which adds to the ambiance, almost as much as the live music does. One might say that it is very dark, which it is, but visitors should expect this along with the slightly rocky and uneven floor, both small drawbacks truly worth enduring to eat dinner in a cenote.

Bodeguita del medio
It has very good salsa lessons for free Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 pm. You can meet a lot of nice people there, both locals and tourists. There's live music every night and you can practise what you have learned at the salsa lessons at school also !

At the Bodeguita you'll find the best mojito in town, and the prices are reasonable.

Kitchen
I love this bar. It looks on to the Quinta Avenida and you can sit outside and watch people go by. They have a different live band every night with different types of music (rock, pop, salsa etc). Drinks are cheap for a bar on Quinta and the food is also very good. The staff there are very friendly too, so it's a perfect atmosphere for a night out in Playa del Carmen.

La Zebra (Tulum)
It's beautiful.There is a live band playing salsa and merengue and the dance floor looks directly out on to the beautiful beach of Tulum. You can see the stars, the moon… It's "muy romántico"! It has a lot of cool places to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Prices for drinks are normal, though the food is a bit costly.
