Get yourself some (Mexican) breakfast

For some real Mexican food for breakfast, Elizabeth Piedad Lara recommends us the street stalls on Avenida Juárez between 5th and 1st Avenue, where she says the tamales, the tacos de cochinita and the tacos de relleno negro (with turkey, in a black chili sauce) are out of this world.
To drink, try the agua de horchata, which is typical of the Yucatán.

My experience of Mexico was that, at first such places were a little bit off-putting. I imagined that they couldn't really be entirely clean (not that where I come from more formal kitchens are any cleaner…)
But then I got over that and tried such stalls and the food really was truly amazing!
I live in Spain and we have lots of "Mexican restaurants" but they're really nothing like the "real thing": stalls like these are the real thing!
That was, for me, one of the most amazing things about Mexico: how could a guy standing in the street, with all his ingredients in plastic bags on the back of a clapped-out scooter produce food that was so delicious…?
